IT WAS an early Christmas surprise for the students of Mona Ni Rodaigh school who performed with Prodijig members Darren Casey and Andrew O'Reilly.

The Prodijig members joined the line up at a special fundraising event in St. Patrick's GFC, Lordship.

'A Christmas Cracker was a huge success, we were just bowled over with the support for the event, and also with Darren and Andrew joining us, It was a very special night for everyone,' said Mona.

She praised teachers Dearbhla and Ciara Lennon, and Maria for organising 'a really professional production'

It was the first time in the school's 42 year history that they put on such an ambitious performance, which was all in aid of dancers taking part in the World Championships in Boston in 2013.

' There are 38 families going out to Boston next year for the competition, which will be a huge expense for everyone, so we are hoping the show goes some way towards funding the trip.'

'We also want to thank the parents fundraising committee for all their hard work in making this event such a success.'

Mona also spoke of her pride at the success of her former student, Darren Casey, from Fatima.

'I really am so proud of all that Darren has achieved, I know that Prodijig are very busy with their tour coming up, so it was very much appreciated that he and Andrew took time out to perform on the night.'
