ON Friday night we headed for Jimmy Reilly's bar in Oriel Active where a special 30th birthday party was being held for Melissa Doogan from Kilcurry and there to make sure she had a truly memorable night were her parents Susan and Barney, brother Paul and sister Miriam Carthy who was with husband Kevin and kids Jamie, Scott and Chris.

I wasn't too long in the door when I met up with Melissa's cousin Cormac and Amanda Reenan from Dromiskin who were enjoying the company of friends Feardia and Lisa Farrell from Culloville, Tommy McGahon from Kilcurry and second cousin Laura Smith who had come over from London specially for the night and assured me it was going to be a brilliant night.

Heading for an adjacent table I caught up with Melissa's brother and dad Paul and Barney who were keeping the three amigos Jamie, Scott and Chris entertained and the lads told me it was definitely going to be a real night to remember.

After this I caught up with two of Melissa's mates who were just in the door and they were Linda Connolly from Garrybawn and Louise Myles from Claddagh Park who wanted a big shout out for daughter Sarah and a message of thanks to her mum Mary who was babysitting on the night.

Making my way over to an adjacent table I then got talking to uncle Martin and Mary Doogan from Newry who were enjoying the company of aunty Marie Stewart from Cherryvale who was with her daughter Lisa and granddaughters Carla and Chloe Stewart all from Claddagh Park and they all wanted to wish Melissa a very happy 30th.

They were also enjoying the company of aunty Alice Stewart from Grange Drive who was with her granddaughter Shannon Stewart also from Grange Drive who were up for making it a real night to remember.

Not too long later I then got a word with aunty Marcella McGahon from next door to the birthday girl in Kilcurry and she was with husband Tommy and kids Niall, Cormac, Amanda and Laura who were also in the company of cousin Sinead and Brian Duffy from Kilcurry who assured me it was going to be nothing short of an epic night for sure.

Just in the door were Colm McKeever from Ath Leathan who was with Emma Fearon from Doylesfort Road who were with Susan McKey and Matthew Berrill both from Dromiskin who wanted to wish Melissa all the best on her big night and were there to party.

Meanwhile up near the bar I then caught up with Melissa's cousins Roisin Corbett from Rosskeagh, Siobhan Corbett from Meetinghouse Lane and their mum Patricia Corbett from Toberona who told me this was going to be a lovely night with Melissa.

Next I got talking to cousin Niall McGahon from next door to Melissa in Rosskeagh who was having a laugh with his mate David Halpin from Haggardstown who assured me it was going to be anything but a quiet celebration.

After this I got talking to Stephen Vernon from New Muirhevna who was with Melissa's cousin Robert Stewart Jnr from Kilcurry and uncles Robert Stewart Snr and Gregory Stewart all from Kilcurry who all wanted to wish Melissa all the best on her big night and were looking forward to a major party!

Finally, before we departed, I caught up with Aoife Stewart from Kingswood who was with her sister Gemma and mum Deirdre all from Kingswood along with cousin Emma Stewart from Kilcurry who wanted to wish their cousin and niece a very happy birthday and assured me the craic was only just getting going!

I hope you all had a great night.
