Mary (Maudie) Kelly who was a native of Ballinloughan, Knockbridge died on November 29th last at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

She was a resident of 'An Salason' Priorland Road, Dundalk for ten years having suffered ill health, but her passing was sudden.

Mary was the eldest of three daughters and one son of Thomas and Margaret Kelly and was educated at Inniskeen National School and Dundalk Technical College.

She then entered the work place and was employed as a shorthand typist in two of Dundalk's best known and oldest professional firms, Gunne Estate Agents, Clanbrassil Street, and Daniel O'Connell & Son, solicitors Francis Street.

Maudie then moved to London in 1960 and joined the Civil Service in which she worked as a personal assistant until she retired due to ill health 12 years later.

Maudie returned home and lived in the family home in Knockbridge until ill health intervened and she moved into An Salason.

She was very fond of painting and had a great aptitude for history and particularly genealogy.

She liked to return and visit family members in England and attend family occasions when she was able. Very witty, she was always up for a joke, and had a very kind and gentle nature.

She is survived by her two sisters, Briege Lynam and Teresa Carragher, along with her only brother T. J, all three of whom reside in England, along with brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, fellow residents and friends.

After reposing at McGeough's Funeral Home, Jocelyn Street, Dundalk, Mary's remains were removed to St. Mary's Church, Knockbridge where Requiem Mass was celebrated by Very Rev. Gerard McGinnety P P., who delivered a lovely eulogy. The Readings were given by niece, Ann-Marie Kelly and nephew, Shane Carragher, while the Church Choir provided the beautiful music. Burial took place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Month's Mind Mass is on Saturday, January 11th at 7.30pm.
