CARLINGFORD woman Marie Murphy is carrying the flag for Ireland at a worldwide make-up artist competition called 'The Illamasqua Distinction in Makeup Artistry Awards' in BAFTA in London, this Saturday, October 5.
Marie, who works as a graphic designer in Dublin, is competing in the 'Non-Pro' category as she's a self-taught makeup artist.
The show is being judged by world renowned make-up artist, Alex Box who has done make-up for Vivienne Westwood and Italian Vogue; Sam Fine, who is an American celebrity make-up artist who has worked with actresses like Halle Berry; and Jayne Demuro, who is the director of beauty for Selfridges, London.
Marie, a past-pupil of Dun Lughaidh, studied art and graphic design at Dublin Institute of Technology. She worked with Grafton Design in Dublin and GoCreate in Park Street, before returning to Dublin.
'Make-up is something I've been doing since I was twelve years of age. I just enjoy it and mostly work with photographers, providing creative make-up for photoshoots.'
Marie, the only Irish competitor this year, flies out to London next Saturday, and will be doing makeup in front of a live audience in the prestige Princess Anne Theatre in BAFTA. Her work will be shown on Facebook where voting will be open until October 12.
