THE FITZERS 5k Fun Run for Rehab event takes place on Saturday February 23 in aid of Dundalk Simon Community and RehabCare Dundalk.

The event, which is organised in association with the Marshes Shopping centre will take place at 11am and the excitement about the event is building up throughout the town already.

The route of the 5k will begin and end at the Marshes Shopping Centre and will take in the streets of Dundalk Town. The route will be accessible to all and the organisers would like to encourage people of all abilities to take part.

Peter Fitzpatrick wished everyone the best of luck with the 5K and said that he was delighted to be involved with an event which raised money for such a worthy cause. He is expecting a good turn out at the event from Louth players and the public alike!

The funds raised from the event will go towards the community food garden and the primary schools food growing project being led by Rehab Care staff and services users.

RehabCare and Dundalk Simon Community would like to thank all of the businesses and community groups involved in the event and a full line up of sponsors will be announced shortly.

In the meantime the 5K Dundalk event is a great chance for everyone in the community to put their New Year Resolution to the test and gives everyone who wants to be healthier and fitter in 2013 something to aim for.

Race Entry is €10 and a map and more details can be found at The event is Chip timed and has an official AAI permit.
