A LOUTH County Hospital worker won more than €40,000 on the Winning Streak gameshow at the weekend, thanks to a scratch card her sister had bought for her birthday.

Leontia Toal from Legion Avenue, Dundalk, won €40,400 on the RTE show on Saturday night. And there will be more Louth representation on the programme this coming weekend with Karen Kirk from Louth Village heading to the studios after her name was called out.

Leontia, who is married to Brendan and is a clerical officer at the Louth County Hospital, told producers her sister, Marese, gave her the scratch card for her birthday at the end of last month.

The lucky card was bought at the Mace, Greenacres.

Leontia, who is mum to Christopher, was ironing last Saturday night and just decided to sit down and listen to who was chosen for next week's show.

She said there was 'Bedlam' once she heard her own name called out.

In her spare time, she enjoys music, reading and walking and said she has, up till now, not been particularly lucky and has no lucky charms. Leontia told RTE she has had no holiday this year so she would love to treat herself to one after the show.
