Late drinking leads to fine
SPIRIT Store owner Mark Deary has been fined at the district court for late drinking at the quayside venue.
Judge William Hamill was told last week that Gardai went to the pub at around 2am on July 28, one hour after closing time, and found approximately 20 people on the premises.
Solicitor James MacGuill said his client, who pleaded guilty to one count on the summons, had been running the Spirit Store since 1999 without any incident.
Mr MacGuill told the judge the George's Quay venue is well-known for staging music and on this night, there was a music club night on and the premises wasn't cleared as quickly as was hoped.
Judge Hamill imposed a fine of €250.
