TWO MEN accused of being involved in a cannabis growing operation in Dundalk failed to appear to answer their bail at the circuit court on Monday.
Lithuanian Sergei Malasicevas (43), Brookwood Lawns, Red Barns Road, and Tomas Petkevicius (31), of the same address, are charged with possession of drugs and possession of drugs for sale or supply at Seatown Place on November 28 2011.
It is alleged they were involved in a cannabis growing operation at a house in Seatown where Gardai claim they found 800 plants worth an estimated €400,000.
Malasicevas is also charged with cultivating cannabis and having drugs in excess of €13,000 for sale or supply arising out of the same alleged incident.
The case was listed on the first day of the circuit court but after the men were called, their barristers said they had not arrived.
Garda Paul Gill told Judge Patricia Reynolds that the case had been listed in October and the two men had turned up and the case was adjourned, with both of them on bail, to January 14.
Gda. Gill said he had 'no reason to believe' that either man would turn up and he believed ' that both men have left and they have not been seen in some time'.
Judge Reynolds issued bench warrants for both men.
