DIAGEO Ireland made it an early Christmas for Quay Celtic FC with a donation of €1,000 to help maintain facilitates at the popular club.
The grant will go towards providing special energy-efficient lights that will allow for winter training sessions while saving money for the club.
The award has been made through the Diageo Ireland 'Gifted' programme which runs on an annual basis, enabling Diageo employees who volunteer with local community groups or charities to nominate these groups for a donation from the company.
The Gifted award was made to Diageo Ireland – Great Northern Brewery employee Paul McCormack who is an active member of Quay Celtic FC.
Paul McCormack, Process Operator at Diageo Ireland and a member of Quay Celtic FC, commented on the award: 'I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of all at Quay Celtic FC. For almost half a century Quay Celtic FC has been providing an important sporting and recreational outlet for the Dundalk community. As we try to maintain facilities at a very challenging time, this award will help us continue to provide all of our programmes at the club. We are very grateful to Diageo for supporting our club and community at this time.'
Aidan Crowe, Operations Manager at the Great Northern Brewery, added: 'I am delighted that for the third year running, Diageo, through the Gifted programme, is able to support 18 very worthy local organisations across the country.
Throughout Ireland, Diageo employees are giving their time on a voluntary basis to carry out invaluable work with local community groups and charities. This vital work is making a big difference in these communities and the 'Gifted' programme gives Diageo the opportunity to echo and reward this commitment.'
