THE FIRST day of the 'From Prisons to Peacebuilding' film screenings and discussion held in Dundalk's County Museum was very successful according to organiser, Dr Laurence McKeown, a former republican prisoner and hunger striker.

Dr McKeown said: ' The free two-day event is organised along with the County Louth VEC, in association with the European Union's PEACE III Programme.

' Speakers last Saturday included Adrian Bird, a former loyalist prisoner, Pat Sheehan, a former republican prisoner and hunger striker and currently Sinn Fein MLA, Roger McCollum a former RUC and PSNI officer, and Kate Turner, Director of Healing Through Remembering.

This Saturday, December 15, the event continues with screenings of 'Five Minutes of Heaven' starring Liam Neeson and ' Life as an Interface'. Screenings will again be followed by discussion on the themes thrown up in the films.

Admission is free and screenings are at 10am and 3pm. Further information on the events can be obtained by downloading the programme from http://louthvec.ie/peace-3project.html or by emailing laurence. mckeown@btinternet.com.
