It was a memorable St Patrick's Day for Dundalk singer Cathy Maguire who made her debut on national television in the USA as well as being the MC at the Sober St Patrick's Day in New York City on Monday.

Cathy said she was 'delighted and excited to be the Master of Ceremonies at the 3rd Annual Sober St Patrick's Day here in NYC.'

The event, which was first held in 2012, has now spread to five cities including Belfast.

'It's a fantastic day of entertainment, surprise guests and celebs. But most importantly it's a very positive and different message about St Patricks Day,' explains Cathy.

Cathy, who was recently honoured by the Irish Echo Newspaper with their People's Choice Award at the annual 'Irish 40 Under 40' awards, was also interviewed on national television about Sober St Patrick's Day and sang 'Danny Boy' during NBC's coverage of the St Patrick's Day parade.
