THE DEATH occurred on Monday, October 22, of Kathleen Myles (nee Duffy) late of Coole, Ardee, and formerly of Stormanstown.
Kathleen affectionately known as Katty was predeceased by her husband Terence (Sonny) and is survived by her son Terence, Coole, her daughter Rosie Duff, Woodtown, as well as seven grand-children and seven great-grandchildren.
Katty was one of a family of six and is also survived by her brother, Frank Duffy, of Townparks and James Duffy of Sliabh Breagh.
Katty was always a very independent lady and took pride in working until shortly before her death, aged 77. In her early years she worked in a caring capacity in Ardee Hospital, before becoming the housekeeper to several priests in Ardee Parish over many years.
She gave up work for a few years to care for her ailing husband, Sonny, until his death. In more recent years she resumed her housekeeping duties for a well known local family and was a familiar face on the streets of Ardee going about her daily business.
She was also a very religious person, attending all church services and novenas as well as enjoying trips to Knock.
Katty's remains were taken from her home on Wednesday, October 24, to the Church of the Nativity Ardee. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev Father McGeough and burial took place in Clonkeen Cemetery.
She was much loved and is sadly missed by her son, daughter, brothers, nieces, nephews, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family circle.
The family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital who looked after Katty during her short illness. Thanks are also extended to friends, neighbours and all who helped in any way or offered comfort and support.
