TWO BROTHERS, one of whom has an address in Dundalk, have appeared in court charged with the double murder of a couple who were set on fire at a house in County Armagh six years ago.
Martin Smith ( 40), with an address at Cois Croinn, Saltown, and 37-year-old Niall Smith, Moylara, Balbriggan, were arrested last month on foot of an extradition warrant and brought to Northern Ireland where they appeared at Armagh Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday).
They are accused of murdering Thomas O'Hare and Lisa McClatchey at the couple's home on Foley Road in Tassagh, near Keady, in 2006. The brothers are also charged with arson.
Mr O'Hare and Ms McClatchey were beaten with hammers and doused in petrol before being set on fire at the isolated bungalow they shared and they died in hospital from their injuries. The Smith brothers were remanded in custody and are to appear in court again in four weeks.
