AS part of the nationwide clean coasts weekend the Campbell/Donnelly Sinn Fein cumann organised clean ups at Gyles Quay and Greenore recently.
Around 30 people took part in the Gyles Quay event with 35 at Greenore. Cllr. Jim Loughran who was in attendance, praised those who had given up their Saturday afternoon to help clean up the beaches.
He said: 'If we were all just that little bit more responsible and used the bins provided or took home our own rubbish, then there would be no need to organise such events.'
The cumann would like to thank Cllr. Jim Loughran, An Taisce, Louth County Council and the local Tidy Towns committees for providing bags, gloves, pickers, help etc and to Tony Clarke for making his quad and trailer available and Ann Larkin from the Greenore Co-Op for the soup and sandwiches and, of course, to everyone who turned out to help.
