Author Emer goes back to school
'I ALWAYS knew she would do something special' said principal Briege Galligan as she welcomed Emer Conlon back to the school where she first began to write.
The author of the hugely popular 'Vroom Town' series of children's book returned to the Friary school to do a book reading to some of the young pupils who were enthralled by the tales of 'Terry the Terrible Tractor'.
'She was a great student, always writing stories, using her imagination. I wasn't surprised to hear that she became an author,' said Ms. Galligan. 'Emer was a very bright student, I could see that even when she was just six or seven years old.'
The author gave some indication as to why the book series has been such a runaway success.
'Vroom-Town is a wonderful place where all types of trucks with all types of personalities live, work and have exciting adventures,' said Emer.
The books are linked with the website, www.Vroom-Town.ie and are also available in Irish.
Emer's visit to her old school was filmed by RTE's Nationwide, and is set to be broadcast on October 16.
