Adrian's murderers 'will be pursued and apprehended'
THE gang behind the murder of Detective Garda Adrian O'Donohue will be caught and brought to justice, said acting Garda Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan.
Speaking last week at the Garda Representative Association conference in Killarney, the interim Commissioner said the force is 'very determined that the people who murdered Detective Garda Donohoe will be pursued and will be apprehended.'
The 41-year-old father of two was shot dead during an armed robbery outside Lordship Credit Union in January 2013.
Gardaí previously said they are satisfied that they've identified the gang members involved – but no arrests have yet been made.
Over the last 14months there have been a number of developments in the investigation and gardaí have travelled to the US, where three of the suspects are reported to be currently living.
A team of garda detectives also travelled to Australia following another reported link to the gang behind the murder.
The acting Commissioner confirmed the extent of the wide ranging investigation.
'We're having very, very good co-operation with the police service in Northern Ireland and with colleagues in the US authorities and I'm very confident that the people that murdered Detective Garda Donohoe will be brought to justice.'
