A DUNDALK man accused of punching a person in the eye has entered a not guilty plea to an assault causing harm charge.
Mark Griffin ( 21), 22 Crescent 1, Muirhevnamor, was summonsed accused of assault causing harm at Park Street on May 6. When the case was listed at the district court last week, Judge William Hamill was told that Gardai alleged Griffin punched the alleged victim in the face, which resulted, it is claimed, in the person being treated at the Minor Injuries Unit and getting stitches above their right eye.
Solicitor Conor Breen said his client would enter a not guilty plea and there would be two witnesses for the defence.
Inspector Martin Beggy said there would be five for the prosecution and there is no CCTV in the case. Judge Hamill set April 24 as the hearing date.
