DUNDALK Town Centre will be even more attractive for shoppers this Christmas and New Year after the Town Council announced that it would again give car owners half-price parking from now until January 4.
Dundalk Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the decision.
Paddy Mathews, President of the Chamber, and BIDS representative Fiona Cunningham both believe that this will boost business in the town both before Christmas and in the important post-Christmas sales.
Speaking at the launch, Paddy stressed the need for Dundalk people to 'support each other by spending money locally this Christmas and in general'.
He said: 'The theme chosen by the town council is 'shop local'. If we all spend money in local shops it creates jobs in those shops. The employees can and will then spend their wages in Dundalk which generates more jobs.
'The town has really got into the swing of Christmas this year with the phenomenal Santa run last week organised by the chamber which will be followed up next week by the charity lunch'.
In addition, Jimmy Cumiskey has made an appeal for all Santa run money to be returned as soon as possible.
The town council, chamber and BIDS would ask that people look out for their neighbours this season, particularly if it is cold.
