DUNDALK Red Cross will provide the medical cover for the Giro d'Italia event as it passes through town this Sunday.
With resouces being drawn from Dundalk, Drogheda, Carlingford and Tullyallen units, they will provide personnel including EMT's, paramedics, advanced paramedics and doctors.
Orla Sheridan, spokesperson for Dundalk Red Cross said: 'To augment the members, the Red Cross will also be supplying a number of ambulances to follow the cavalcade of riders and support crews.'
'There will also be two Irish Red Cross rapid response vehicles carrying doctors to provide the crews with extra medical support,' said Orla. 'The provision of these medical services continues the work the Irish Red Cross has provided to local communities, event organisers and sports groups throughout Louth, Leinster and Nationwide for the last 75 years.'
