SENATOR JIM D'Arcy has welcomed the allocations from the Sports Capital Programme for 2012 to Blackrock Athletic Club and Blackrock Park Committee and Playground Group
Blackrock Athletic Club has been allocated €20,935 and the Blackrock park Committee and Playground Group €9,500.
'Both Groups have contributed enormously to the Blackrock/Haggardstown area in recent years', stated Senator D'Arcy. Blackrock Athletic Club caters for an enormous number of boys and girls. My own children, in their day, got great benefit from the coaching and care they received from the club and speaking to young parents at the switching on of the Christmas Lights in Blackroc, it is the same today'.
'The wonderful appearance and condition of Blackrock Park and the facilities available which includes the playground, the Mugga Pitch and the fantastic Sensory Gardens (well done Eileen Carter) are testimony to the magnificent work of the committee led by Karen Coan and aided by Patrick Rafferty and his team. I'm sure the money will be well spent'
Senator D'Arcy said he was also pleased to see Dundalk Cricket Club among the grant recipients. 'A lot of the members reside in the area and make a significant community contribution', he stated.
