Old Dundalk Society enjoys Fermanagh trip
THE Old Dundalk Society recently held their annual excursion when they visited Fermanagh.
The first stop was to Florence Court, a National Trust property which is one of the finest neo-classical homes in Ireland. On arrival, the group were served with refreshments followed by a tour of the house.
The next destination was Enniskillen Castle which guards one of the few passes into Ulster. It was strategically important throughout its history and houses two museums. This was followed by a boat trip to Devenish Island, which contains one of the finest monastic sites in Northern Ireland.
Finally, before departing for home, the group enjoyed dinner in the Killyhevlin Hotel.
The society is celebrating its 50th anniversary and offers outings and a lecture series. It is open to everybody.
