Kilkerley native Gerry McCabe who resides in Ballinagowan, Belmont, County Offaly and is confined to a wheelchair since an accident over eight years ago, is hoping to walk again with the aid of a 'Rewalk' which is a wearable motorised exoskeleton suit, so along with family and friends he hopes that a successful fundraising campaign will realise the €100,000 needed to purchase the suit. Kilkerley Community Alert again hosted the annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Party which took place in the Community & Enterprise Centre last Sunday week and a great evening of entertainment and dancing was enjoyed by all following hot dinner.

Winners of the draw were David Martin got the top prize, Tara Litchfield got second and Dolores McElroy third.

Callan's Golf Society has a Three Ball Scramble outing to Killin Golf Club on Saturday last with Barry Conroy's team of himself, Stephen and Patsy Hughes winning, second team went to Paul Litchfield, Garrett Callan and Brian McGuinness, and third team was Barry Savage, Niall and Ray Mulholland.

This Friday night is Pizza and Movie night from 7.30 to 10.30 p.m. and is the final night of 2012.


The local Cumann held their last meeting of 2012 in Milltown Hall on Friday night last which Joe Quinn in the absence of local TD who was unavoidably absent. Much discussion took place on state of roads in the area with flooding a big issue. Ticket are available for the FF National Super Draw.

Sympathy was extended to the families of Anna Quigley, William Quigley, Tom Flynn and all who suffered bereavements in 2012. Good wishes to Peter Hanrahan and Joe Quinn who were both hospitalised recently.
