ON SATURDAY night we headed for the Clans bar where a special 50th birthday party was being held for Joan Robinson from Ashling Park and there to make sure she had a fantastic night was husband Christy, daughters Rosemary and Colin Conlon from Newry, Rita Robinson and Stephen McCabe from An Cearnóg and Tanya Robinson from Ashling Park along with a big collection of family and friends.
I wasn't too long in the door when I met up with Denise Hughes from Beechmount Drive and Noeleen Little from Ashling Park who wanted to wish a very happy birthday to their best friend Joan.
Also in their company were Joan's sisters-in-law Catriona Faul from Inniskeen, Jackie Nevin from Laurelbrook Gardens and Sandra Evans from Muirhevnamor who wanted to wish their friend Joan every happiness on her big night and they were there to make sure she enjoyed it.
They were also enjoying the craic with Sandra McGauley from Marian Park and Deborah Caldwell from St. Ronan's Terrace and they told me it was going to be an epic party.
I then headed for another table where I caught up with Emma Crosby from Marian Park, Briege Doyle from Thistle Cross, Imelda Clarke from Racecourse Road and Briege Mooney from St. Nicholas Avenue who are all mates of Joan's and told me the craic was only getting going and it was going to be a brilliant celebration.
Making my way over to another table I then met up with Frances Donnelly from Ashling Park and Anne Ashmore from Woodview Park who told me they really wanted to wish Joan a very happy 21st.
Not too long later I got a word with Joan's daughter Tanya who told me she was with Derek Tuite and Rosaleen Larkin both from Ashling Park and she too wanted to wish her mum a very happy 50th.
After this I caught up with Joan's brother Deno Farrell who was there with dad Patrick Farrell both from Marian Park who were up for making the best of the party with Niamh Brady from Dublin Road, Elaine Casey from Lisdoo and son-in-law Stephen who were having a great laugh together.
At an adjacent table I met some of Tanya's mates and they included Rosaleen Larkin and Sarah Tuite both from Ashling Park, Nadine Conroy from Castleross and Shauna Cooney from Lennon Melia Court who told me it was going to be anything but a quiet night.
After this I headed over to a table where I got talking to Bernie and Bob Wesley from Oakland Park, Maureen and Anthony McParland from Fatima Court, Eric Rice from Castletown Road and they were awaiting the arrival of Brenda and Jamesie Clinton from Ashling Park who still hadn't arrived to enjoy the party.
I then met up with Sean Finnegan from Ashling Park who wanted to wish Joan a very happy birthday and they were with David McGee, Ken and Thomas Macken and Mickey Murden all from Ashling Park who were there to party and wanted to wish Joan all the best on her 21st.
Finally, before I departed I got talking to Jason McGee from Ashling Park, David and Francis Trimble from Cederwood Park who told me this was going to be a fantastic party and wanted to wish Joan all the best on her big night.
