ON FRIDAY night we headed for the Clans Clubrooms where a rather special 21st birthday party was taking place for Shane O'Hanlon from Blackrock.
There to make sure he had a great night were his parents Seamus and Gillian, sister Emma, grandparents Jim and Bernadette O'Hanlon from Ard Easmuinn, girlfriend Ciara Soraghan from Haggardstown and a huge collection of family and friends.
Shane has just finished in Maynooth and is now working in the Permanent TSB in Dublin and was in great form when I caught up with him at the start of the night.
I then decided to have a look round to see who was there and caught up with Niamh McShane from Haggardstown, Katy Fingleton, Rebecca Buchannan and Shane's sister Emma all from Blackrock who were all on for a major night of fun.
Heading for an adjacent table I caught up with Noel, Sharon and Amy Twybill, David Hoey and Tom and Pauline Murphy all from Blackrock who assured me it was going to be a cracking night for sure.
Next I met up with Orlaith Kent from Dublin Road and Amy Twybill from Blackrock who told me they are Shane's cousins and were going to have a brilliant time.
Not too far away I then got talking to Jenny McFaul from Belfry Gardens and Lyndsey Culleton from Kilkerley who told me they are friends of Ciara's and were going to have a mad one with everyone there.
I then headed for a bunch of lads who play with the Geraldines with Shane and they included Mickey Mackin from Haggardstown, Peter-John Murphy from Cooley, Shane Finnerty from Blackrock, and Michael Rogers from Belfry Gardens who told me they had just finished playing a game on the Clans pitch earlier on that night when they had hammered Naomh Martin.
After this I caught up with aunty Maureen Hoey from Blackrock who was having a laugh with Breda Curran from Blackrock and Shane's mum Gillian and they assured me it was going to be a fantastic party.
Not too far away I then got talking to Suzanne Kelly from Stabannon and Sarah Connolly from Carrick Road who told me they are friends of Emma's and were going to party the night away.
Meanwhile up near the bar I got talking to Jamie O'Hanrahan from Blakely Close who was with Conor Lynch from Willow Grove who told me he wasn't drinking because he had an interview the following day and they were with Mark Neary from Darver who was because he didn't!
After this I headed for a table where I caught up with Aidan McVicaer from County Down who was with Brenda Curran from Blackrock who were up for making the best of the party.
I then had the pleasure of meeting up with Shane's girlfriend Ciara Soraghan from Haggardstown who was there with Lyndsey and of course Shane and wanted to wish him a very happy birthday.
Not too far away I got talking to Grainne, Danny and Éadaoin Gallagher from Blackrock who assured me it was going to be a fantastic night with Shane.
I then caught up with more of the Geraldines teammates and they included Maurice Murphy, Padraig Gallagher and Aaron Murray all from Blackrock who told me not to forget to give a special mention to Josh Arrowsmith who is only 17 and he scored a hat-trick during the game.
Not too long later I got talking to Linda and Brian O'Hanlon from Marlmount who were enjoying the craic with Seamus's wife Cait O'Hanlon from Tullyallen and they were joined by Shane's favourite cousin Maria Clarke from Vincent Avenue.
Maria was there with her main squeeze Aidan McCann from Bay Estate and they were also sitting with her parents Mary and Mickey Clarke from Kilkerley, Briege and Gerry O'Shaughnessy frm Pearse Park, Peadar and Mary Tiernan from Faughart as well as uncles Cathal from Ardee Road and Brian from Marlmount who all wanted to wish Shane a happy 21st.
Finally, before I departed I met up with cousins Niall and Sean O'Hanlon from Mounthamilton who wanted to wish Shane all the best on his big night.
