ON SATURDAY night we headed for Brubakers where a rather special 21st birthday party was being held for Peter Muckian from Kilcurry and there to make sure he had a fantastic night were his parents Declan and Bernie, sisters Jenny and Susan and a big collection of family and friends.
I wasn't too long in the door when I met up with Peter who is in his final year of Civil Engineering in DkIT and told me the torture would be over soon and was really looking forward to a good night with his mates.
I then decided to have a look around to see who was there and the first group I got talking to were Loreto Pellecchia from Chapel Street who was telling a story which wouldn't be repeatable in this family newspaper and he was with John McGahon from Faughart Gardens, Conor Mulley and Ciaran Greene both from Cooley Park and James Byrne from Avenue Road who was a bit reticent about giving his name saying he was 'on the run' but all the lads wanted to wish Peter a very happy 21st.
Making my way over to another table where I got talking to Anthony Kellegher from The Demesne who was with Sean Dunne from Castle Park and Padraig Gorham from St. Nicholas Avenue who told the lads here was no point in giving their name because they weren't going in, okay Padraig we won't give you a mention, oops!
I then made my way over to one of the high tables where I had the pleasure of talking to Peter's cousin Alison Clarke from Kells who was with Edel Casey from Trim who told me she was with Peter's cousin Kevin McAvinchey from Kells, but could she remember his surname, it's McAvinchey Edel, a bit early for that kind of memory loss! They were also with Christy Lynch from Kells who assured me it was going to be a cracking night.
Heading for another table I then met up with Niamh Burke from Kells who was with cousins Pearce and Aoibhín Clarke from Kells who were up for making a real night to remember out of it.
I then ventured over to a table where I caught up with Peter's dad Declan Muckian from Kilcurry who was having a laugh with his sister and husband Jackie and Frank Martin who were in great form and wanted to wish Peter all the best on his big night.
Making my way over to another table I met up with uncle Ollie Clarke from Kells who was with Sean Watters from Blackrock the future brother-in-law who will be marrying Peter's sister Jenny in a couple of weeks and they were enjoying the craic with Peter's mum Bernie who assured me it was going to be anything but a quiet night when they all got together.
They were also in the company of aunts Mary Clarke and Angela McAvinchey both from Kells, Olivia Clarke from Knockbridge as well as Bridie and uncle Pat Clarke from Kells who were getting ready for a major party with Peter and all his mates. Not too long later I got a word with Niall O'Connor from Lordship who was with his cousin Alan O'Connor also from Lordship who told me they are good mates of Peter's and they were out for a mad one with some of the birthday boy's cousins who included Paddy Muckian from Forkhill, Karl Muckian from Rockmarshall and Laura Muckian from Greenore who assured me it was going to be an epic night.
I then had a word with Paddy and Ciaran Greene from Cooley Park who were with Peter's neighbour and friend Sean O'Hare from Kilcurry who told me this was going to be a fantastic party and no mistake.
Taking a bit of a break from meeting everyone at the party, I wondered had I forgotten to give someone a mention, could it have been Padraig Gorham from St. Nicholas Avenue, I wondered, surely not?
Making my way over to another table I met up with a bunch of party ladies who included Laurene Brady from Crossmaglen, Laura McQuillan from Cullyhanna, Aine Lynch, Aileen Kane, Grainne Conlon and Edel Rogers all from Hackballscross who wanted to wish Peter all the best on his big night, then told me they were gatecrashers!
Next I had the pleasure of talking to Chandell Cooney from Distillery Lane who was with Peter's sister Suzy Muckian from Kilcurry, Mark Connolly and Sean Watters both from Blackrock as well as Pearce Clarke and Niamh Burke both from Kells who were all getting into the swing of things when I met them.
Making my way over to yet another table I then got talking to Keith Smyth from Kilsaran, Jason Woods from Annagassan, Paudie Mac from Blackrock and Paddy Keane from Redbarns Road who told me they too wanted to wish Peter all the best on his big night too.
Just arrived in were Martin and Rose Crosby from Saltown who were with Olive and Alan Watters from Greenacres who wanted to wish Peter all the best on his big night
Finally, before I departed I caught up with Gemma Byrne from Avenue Road who was with Beata Dziadosz from Chapel Street who was with her fiancé Loreto Pellecchia also from Chapel Street and Nadia Wong from Dromiskin who assured me it was going to be a fantastic night and wanted to wish Peter all the best on his big night.
Oh yes, another quick mention for Padraig Gorham from St. Nicholas Avenue, just in case he thought I wouldn't give him a mention!
