THE FOURTH Jonesboro charity cycle was launched in The Gap of the North pub in Jonesboro, and it is hoped that it will get good support from the Dundalk area as the local RehabCare will be one of the beneficiaries.
Now an annual event, the cycle has raised over £stg55,000 for various organisations which help children over the past three years.
This year the committee hope to surpass the efforts of previous years as they raise much needed funds for this year's nominated organisations - RehabCare Dundalk, Rathore school, Helping Hand Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children, Gateway Club and Cancer Fund for Children.
Each of the organisations was represented at the launch and gave details about the work of their organisation and what they plan to do with any funds they received.
Present were Caithlin McKinley, RehabCare, Raymond Cassidy, Rathore School, Bernard Brady, Helping Hand, Deirdre Shields, Gateway and Joanne Black, Cancer Fund for Children. Each organisation also has a member on the committee.
The sponsored cycle will take place on the cycle lane at Dromad on July 1 at noon. All cyclists and walkers are welcome to take part.
Anyone interesting in taking part or sponsoring should contact John Phillips at 048 30848362 or Martin McCartney at 048 30849426.
