THE parish's two football clubs are in the process of carrying out significant improvements to their facilities.

The Geraldine's have completed work on their clubrooms, involving the lowering and installation of a new ceiling in and refurbishing the main hall and the installation overhead of a state-of-the art gym.

The club engaged local contractor Dessie Ward to carry out the project, which also entailed the upgrading of toilet facilities.

The club was allocated national grant funding that subsidised the cost.

Meanwhile, Rock Celtic is to use the €50,000 grant received from the national lottery towards improving its playing facilities.

The club is looking at expanding its all-weather facilities to provide additional training opportunities for the growing playing numbers in the club, which includes a new ladies team.

The club is also seeking to upgrade its existing all weather training amenity and particularly it's floodlighting system with the overall aim to alleviate the heavy use on the main pitch.

New director of football Dermot Keely is ready to commence his involvement with the club, with an immediate task to make preparations for the start of the new North East League season with the senior players.
