AS part of its ongoing golden jubilee celebrations, the Old Dundalk Society is inviting people to go on a walking tour of Seatown, on Thursday August 28.
The walk through one of the oldest parts of town will be led by archaeologist Paul Gosling, a native of Dundalk, who now lectures in Built Heritage at the Department of Heritage and Tourism at Galway Mayo Institute of Technology.
Meeting at the Green Church at 5pm, the two-hour walk will focus on the history and development of the streets in Seatown over the past 1,000 years.
The walk will deal with street names, street alignments and layouts, and the role of prominent buildings such as Seatown Castle, the windmill, Quay Street Railway Station, St Leonard's Garden and more.
The walk should prove an enjoyable and informative experience and those going along are advised to wear comfortable footwear.
