Blackrock Tidy Towns are currently implementing a number of projects around the village in preparation for this year's competition.
A new information panel has been erected next to the telescope on the promenade identifying the different types of birds that can be seen on the shoreline, and showing the points of interest along the Cooley Peninsula.
New bicycle stands will be erected at the southern end of the promenade and hanging baskets and flower planters are to be installed along Sandy Lane.
An entrance feature to the village is currently under construction on the Old Golf Links Road close to the Dublin Road junction. This will incorporate landscaping, a namestone, and a flagpole in the same style as at the entrances at The Loakers, Greengates and Haggardstown Cross.
All these projects have been grant aided by Louth Leader Partnership under the Rural Development Programme which is financed by the EU and the Irish Exchequer.
Tidy Towns are also currently undertaking a range of maintenance tasks in conjunction with the Community Employment Scheme, and also a number of significant new landscaping projects in the park.
