Dundalk After Dark

On Saturday night I headed for the Bodhran Pub where a special 40th birthday party was taking place for Peter Mellon from Dromiskin and there to make sure he had a great night was his wife Mary, kids Amy and Rhys, parents Gerry and Betty Mellon from Mountain View, Mary's parents Barny and Mary Martin from Marian Park and a huge collection of family and friends.

I wasn't too long in the door when I met up with the birthday boy who works for Dundalk Pluming who wanted to thank everyone for coming and he was really looking forward to the party.

He was sitting chatting to his mum who wanted to wish Emily Mellon a very happy 3rd birthday along with wishing Peter all the best too.

Next I met up with aunty Briege and Peter Dollard from Grange Drive who assured me it was going to be an epic party but after another function earlier in the day, Briege was taking things nice and easy.

I then had the pleasure of meeting Peter's sister Annmarie Mellon from Avenue Road who was with her sister and fiancée Grace Mellon and Barry Boylan both from Riverside Drive as well as Jenny Kinch from Mountain Court and Mary Halpenny from Ardee who were having a great laugh together and wanted to wish Peter all the best on his big night.

I then headed over for a word with Peter's wife Mary who was sitting chatting to neighbours Noel and Michelle Smyth from Dromiskin and Noel's brother Christopher Smyth from Bay Estate who told me they were there to party and it would be anything but a quiet night for certain.

Beside them I then caught up with Paddy McNally and Ciaran Sharkey both from Dromiskin whom along with Peter help to coach the mighty Woodview Celtic u9s and they wanted to wish Peter all the best too.

After this I headed over for a word with Leanne Ludlow from Castleross and Michelle Smyth from Dromiskin who were having a totally mad night together and said it was going to be a cracking night for sure.

Next I got a word with Sean Finnegan from Ashling Park who was with his son Gerard and they were there to party along with the best of them.

Making my way over to another table I then got talking to Laura Morgan from Point Road who was with Nigel Martin from Toberona, David Murphy from Clancullen Park and Susan Reid from Carrickmacross who were all looking well and certainly making the best of the celebrations.

Also in their company were Jason Gray from The Quay, Declan and Gavin Martin and Meghan Perkins all from Marian Park who were in great form and ready to party all night long.

Not too long later I met up with the birthday boy who was sitting having a chat with his boss Damian and Frances Kenwright from Knockbridge who wanted to wish his all the best on his big night.

I then headed over for a chat with Seamus McGivern from Kingswood who was with aunty Angela Woods from Willow Grove, and aunty Margaret Martin from Cluan Enda who couldn't wait for the food and the music to get going.

Heading for the bar I then met Peter's favourite young uncle Tommy Dollard from Ashling Pak who was there with his brother Peter from Grange Drive and the lads assured me it was going to be a good night for certain.

Not too far away I got a word with Rachel Connolly from Bay Estate who was with Lorraine Carroll from Dunleer and goddaughter Aine Dollard and Michael Farrell both from Tallanstown. Aine was sharing her birthday with Peter and enjoying the celebrations with everyone there.

Finally, before I departed I met up with cousins Paul and Denise Myles from O'Hanlon Park, Sharon and Stefan McKevitt from Blackrock and Darren Ludlow from Castleross who were there to make a mad night of it and wanted to wish Peter a very happy 40th
