The countdown is well under way for Dundalk's St. Patrick's Day parade, which this year is themed around the forthcoming Giro Italia.

Brian O'Neill, Chairman of Dundalk BIDS said, 'With the Giro d'Italia arriving in May, it is exciting to see Dundalk cyclists go pink on St Patrick's Day in anticipation of the internationally renowned race arriving on our shores this summer.'

In a new departure this year, the viewing stand is being moved from its traditional spot outside the Ulster Bank in Clanbrassil Street to outside the former Dunnes Stores premises in Park Street.

The weekend is set to be fun-filled for the whole family with events taking place on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The town centre will be buzzing with crowds who are sure to find something to their liking with the wide range of entertainment being provided.

There will be a street market, vintage bike display, a treasure hunt and lots of musical, dance and BMX performances.

There will also be bouncy castles and children's rides at the Market Square to ensure the kids are kept entertained.

The Tain Theatre will be showcasing lots of Dundalk's local talent in a performance on Sunday March 16. With names including David Martin of the Three Tenors and TG4 award winner Rosie Stewart performing, with compere Paudie Breen a great night suitable for the whole family is guaranteed.

The annual St. Patrick's Craft and Fabulous Food Market will take place again this year showcasing local producers and crafts people on March 16 and 17.

Contact Fiona at Dundalk BIDS Office on (042) 9352842 for more information and to book your place. Spaces will be allocated on a first come basis. For more information and tickets for the Tain Theatre, call (042) 9392919.
