THE Simon Community's annual ladies lunch and fashion show proved the ideal start to the Christmas season, combining glitz and glamour with charity.
The sell-out event took place in the festively decorated Ballymascanlon Hotel where guests were greeted to a champagne reception on arrival and seasonal music from the wonderful Setanta Choir.
The fashion show, featuring ladies and gents' fashions from leading Dundalk shops including Brass Rail, Eden, Pulse/Pacemaker, Tony McDonnell's Menswear and Rapport, followed the delicious three course meal.
Simon CEO Niall Mulligan, who found himself the only man present, addressed the gathering and outlined the work being done by the Simon Community in Dundalk to help the homeless.
'It was a fantastic event and raised €12,000,' he said, expressing graditude to all the retailers who helped make the event such a success, by participating in the fashion show or donating prizes for the raffle. 'Everyone gave up of their time for the event, including the models and compere Tia McCaughey, and the Quinn family were also very helpful.'
