Forty local men and women have signed up to get in the boxing ring as they prepare to take part in the Let's KO Cancer Contender white collar boxing show fundraiser in aid of Cara Cancer on Saturday March 1st.

The brave contestants, who are all novices to the sport of boxing, have been training for the contest in Dealgan Boxing Club for the past seven weeks in anticipation of the big fight.

The pairings for the competition, which takes place in The Fairways Hotel, will be made at the end of the week.

In addition to building their fitness and boxing skills, the contestants also have to plan their grand entry as this is an important part of what promises to be a fun night out.

The KO Cancer Contender is a major fundraiser for Cara Cancer's campaign to provide a Support Centre in Dundalk, similar to the Gary Kelly Support Centre, Drogheda, which will provide support for cancer patients and their families from the Dundalk, north Louth and Monaghan area.

Tickets are available by contacting (087) 0528170 or (086)3748688 and organisers say they are already halfway to selling all the tickets for the event, so don't delay in getting your ticket.
