The variety concert organised by local music student Mary Quinn came up trumps all round. A fine night's entertainment that showcased the talent in the area was enjoyed by the attendance in the community centre, and was capped off by Saint Vincent de Paul receiving much needed funds to help with their noble work.

Organiser Mary Quinn, who plays the violin, was put in a position to present the proceeds from the event, a cheque of over €800, to the society.

What's more, the concert also served to provide 22-year-old Mary with valuable performance experience that she sought to help advance her career as she starts a three year full-time course at Queen's University in September.

'I got great feedback from everyone coming out of the concert which showed what talent there is in the locality. It went really well and we managed to raise €805,' said Mary.

'I was delighted with how I performed and more so was happy that those who were at the concert enjoyed it.

She paid tribute to Frank Watters for the manner in which he performed the role as compere on the night.
