Library hosting summer activities for children

Wondering how to keep the children amused during the long and not so sunny summer holidays? Why not pop into your local library where there are lots of activities to keep them entertained.

Events taking place in Dundalk library this month are teddy bear tales on Saturday July 15 at 11.30am, and a Be Dog Smart Workshop with Dogs Trust on Wednesday July 19 at 3pm.

The aim of the workshop is to teach children to be responsible dog owners and how to stay safe around dogs.

There is a table Quiz for children aged 8 to 12 years on July 20 at 2:30pm , with another movie night on July 25 at 6pm.

The Summer Stars Reading Programme for children is under way in all library branches until the end of August.

All children who register for this free programme join in the fun of reading lots of exciting books during the summer holidays.

They will receive their own Summer Stars Reading Card to record their progress and a library reward stamp will be added to their reading card at the library after each book read, as well as fun rewards.

At the end of the challenge, all children who took part will be invited to an award event at which they will be presented with their award certificate.
