A group of Irish dancers and musicians from Dundalk provided the entertainment for over 500 IT delegates from 36 different countries attending a banquet in the Croke Park Conference Centre in Dublin.

The banquet, which formed part of an international summit celebrating 20 years of search engines, was attended by influential pioneers of internet search engines from across the globe and they were treated to an incredible display of Irish dancing by young dancers from the Dundalk area.

Scoil Rince Móna Ní Rodaigh's dance company 'Anóm Dance' (a fun play on the boss' name 'Mona'!), featuring dancers aged 12-19 performed a medley of both traditional and contemporary numbers to thrill the international audience and bring them to their feet.

'Dancing in competition is one thing,' says 18-year-old Eoghan, 'but performing feels amazing. It's great to get feedback from an audience - you don't get that in competition.

'It's great too to be able to dance fun, modern routines and use our arms and bodies a bit more' says Eoghan of the way Irish dance has been transported into 2013!

'The audience went mad, it was such a buzz!'.

Music on the night was provided by Dundalk based group The Upducky Band and guests were seen replicating attempting to replicate some of the moves they had just seen on the dance floor!

Event organiser Dr Páraic Sheridan says 'I had people queuing up afterwards to gush about how fantastic it was - they were completely astounded'.

Scoil Rince Mona Ni Rodaigh teach classes in Louth, Crossmaglen, Meath, Dublin, Armagh and Tyrone. Taking bookings now for September.
