DUNDALK CURSILLO will begin its 25th Anniversary celebrations tomorrow ( Thursday) with an evening of Irish music and dance in Dowdallshill GFC.
Artists will include Stewart Agnew, Comhaltas Dun Dealgan, DKIT Trad Ensemble and much more. Doors open 8pm, Admission is €5 and refreshments will be served.
Cursillo grew out of the Catholic Action Movement in Spain in the 1940s and spread around the world, arriving in Dundalk in 1987 under the direction of Fr John B. Duffy, a Curate of St Patrick's Parish at the time.
Since then hundreds of people from Dundalk and surrounding areas have participated in the annual Cursillo weekends. Cursillo contributed greatly to the spiritual life of Dundalk in the 1990s with many initatives and activities being undertaken, particularly in St Nicholas' Church where Cursillistas still meet every Sunday evening.
Among the other celebrations to mark the 25th Anniversary are included a pilgrimage to the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin this June and a Mass of Thanksgiving in St Nicholas' Church in September.
