Carnegie Hall for 'The Soloist'

The local heats of The Soloist, the national talent competiton which will give one young musician the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, New York with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, takes place in the Tain Arts Centre, Dundalk Town Hall on Thursday July 31st.
Over 40 musicians will be competing in the heats which take place at 4pm and 7.30pm.
The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland are performing at Carnegie Hall, New York on October 30th next and to celebrate their incredible achievements over the past 20 years, they have launched a nationwide talent competition. The winner of 'The Soloist' will get the opportunity to perform with the orchestra for the performance at Carnegie Hall.
In addition to performing at Carnegie Hall, the winner also receives a €1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to perform with the CBOI at premier venues throughout Ireland in 2015 including the Waterfront Hall, Belfast; City Hall, Cork and the RDS Dublin. The Soloist is open to all amateur musicians between the ages of 12 – 23 years. Contestants can sing, play an instrument or dance in any genre from Classical, Pop and Traditional to Jazz, Folk and Country.
Over 300 talented young musicians from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland will compete for this sensational prize, with regional heats taking place around the country.
The grand final will take place at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Santry, Dublin on Sunday August 3rd at 6pm. Tickets for the event are just €7:50 and are available from www.thesoloist.ie or on the door.
