Theatre lovers who enjoy good Irish comedy are in for a rare treat when the hilarious and highly-acclaimed play 'It's The Real McCoy' comes to An Tain Theatre, Dundalk Town Hall for two nights on Friday, September 27, and Saturday, September 28, at 8 p.m. nightly.
This production has been the success story of Irish theatre over the past year and, with over 100 sell-out shows across the country, this play simply has it all.
Set in rural Ireland in 1964 it tells the story of Madge Molloy, a woman in her late 60s who has lived over 40 years of her life wondering why her husband Tom, whom she was married to for just a few months, disappeared without trace or reason.
Needless to say Madge has become bitter about men in general and has come to the conclusion that 'love is a temporary insanity of the mind'. However, her life is about to take an unexpected twist as the arrival of a new curate to the parish is about to reveal the reasons behind her wayward husbands hasty exit and his wish to return and speak to Madge face-to-face.
The play features a plethora of characters, including a gormless postman, Ireland's two nosiest neighbours, a nervous curate, a frightened husband and a woman who doesn't suffer fools easily, in a two-hour rollercoaster of comedy.
As well as selling out theatres across the country, 'It's the Real McCoy' has toured both America and England to high acclaim. Such is the popularity of this play that it sold out three consecutive nights at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin, in June and, due to popular demand, the group are now embarking on their autumn tour.
'It's the Real McCoy' is a 'must see' and is attracting huge crowds and rave reviews.
