Back in 1978 Alex Ferguson in Glasgow made history as the first football club manager to take his sacking to an industrial tribunal claiming unfair dismissal. Alex Ferguson lost his job as manager at Scottish Premier League club St Mirren in May, but is currently at Aberdeen. .

Arguably the greatest signing of Ferguson's 26 year reign as United manager was the deal that brought Eric Cantona to Old Trafford in 1992.
In 1995, Ferguson spent £6 million on signing Andy Cole from Newcastle United Andy Cole.
