AS someone who has been there, done that and burned the T-shirt, my advice to Carol Flannery (Letters, August 7 and 11) is to weigh her options very carefully.
Although the Irish diaspora is worldwide (I spent four years in the UK and 12 in Canada) we Irish don't take kindly to being emigrants.
No matter how good things are in another land there is always that void that not being in your own country creates, and which no monetary compensation can fill.
