Wind-down of FF
• The recent poll showing Fianna Fáil at 10pc (their lowest yet) has been greeted with the usual gasps of surprise and talk of historic lows. But surely the only surprising feature of the poll is that they have any support at all? Pushing a country to the brink of the abyss and still managing to retain the support of one in 10 voters must be a unique achievement in a western democracy.
To his credit, however, Micheál Martin seems to be doing his best to arrange an orderly wind-down of Fianna Fáil, with a third of their support having deserted them in the last six months. I'm sure I speak for 90pc of voters when I wish him every success in completing this task.
