Why won’t our squad sing up?

WHY is it that the Irish soccer squad cannot be taught how to sing the national anthem with pride? Most of the squad at Tuesday's match against Slovakia seemed either unwilling, incapable or too embarrassed to sing it. Robbie Keane and Shay Given were two of the few exceptions who sang it loud and proud.
It is shameful when we see how other countries sing theirs with pride and we have to watch our national players with their mouths shut during Amhran na bhFiann.
I am a primary teacher and taught a class of eight-year-old girls how to sing it in about three 15-minute sessions. We all know the efforts past Irish men and women made to allow us to speak/sing our own language. Perhaps Trapattoni can teach our national players?
