We've run out of corners to turn

Listening to Brian Lenihan's defence of the Budget, claiming it was "fair", was so surreal it was like an out-of-body experience. The likely fallout will be to drive many into poverty and expose children to hardship.
Regardless of what Mr Lenihan might claim, the truth may well be that we have completely run out of corners to turn; we have in fact been painted into one by the pursuit of self-interest at the expense of the common good. It's "every man for himself" now, make no mistake.
