We're wasting cash on political paddling pool

The Seanad has acted as a political halfway house for those who didn't get into the Dail. If politicians don't take the senate seriously they shouldn't expect us to take senators seriously either. There is an easy solution. Hold the election to the senate before the Dail elections and preclude anybody from running in both races. If somebody leaves either house there should be a waiting period of two years before they can be nominated for the other house. That way we are not wasting money on a political paddling pool.
We are looking forward to electoral reform including expense reports.
