We live in the northern part of our hemisphere, where the days are long during the summer, but short in the winter - yet we choose to put the clocks back and make winter days shorter still.

Why? To fit in with our sedentary lifestyles of sitting in front of televisions instead of getting out for a walk and enjoying the evening light.

What should we be doing instead? Putting the clocks forward to make the evenings longer! It is in our hands. What was originally called Daylight Savings Time has become for us daylight wasting time.
