We need to ensure property tax is fair

The Government has not handled the issue of property tax well.

Its crucial mistake has been the imposition of a flat-rate household charge, but throughout the whole saga it has shown a lack of decisiveness and vigour.

As everybody knows, it took over a country in crisis in March 2011. It needed, and still needs, to bring in drastic measures to get the public finances under control. It also needed to reverse a long history of appalling decisions on taxation.
