We can't afford to waste time in schools

James Yorke writes (April 5, 2011) 'if we allow Education Minister Ruairi Quinn to implement his plan to remove religious education from our schools he will lead our children into the abyss of secularism.'
I agree with the minister on this one. A classroom is no place for religious teaching. If people want to preach to impressionable children about virgins giving birth, men walking on water, resurrection etc, let them do so somewhere else.
We can no longer afford to waste precious time in our schools.
