Two-tier health system fails us all

It was very worrying to read that more than 1,000 people are waiting longer than three months for bowel cancer diagnostic tests despite repeated promises by the Health Minister to tackle this dangerous situation.
The suggestion that the problem can be solved by using the National Treatment Purchase Fund is incorrect and indicates a failure to understand the root of the problem.
A cursory look at waiting lists will show that all of those on it are public patients and, accordingly, the problem is the two-tier system of healthcare that Mary Harney is delivering.
