True visionary

•To say that we are not exactly experiencing a heroic age is to be guilty of stating the blindingly obvious. That is why the emergence of Steve Jobs, the man who changed the world by tinkering in his garage was so remarkable.

The iPod, iPhone, and iPad have changed the world. Mr Jobs set himself apart, not just because of his genius but because he put people first. He made products that lasted, and ones that people actually wanted.

In a throwaway society where built-in-obsolescence is the only thing given to you for nothing, this was pretty revolutionary.
